30 Years • Bill Michener

Bill Michener, Executive Director of Lighthouse, reflects back to when he first came to Lighthouse as a youth 26 years ago.

When Bill was 15 he dropped out of Lincoln High. He spent his time hanging out with friends and found himself getting into trouble. Some of his friends frequented the Lighthouse and that’s where Bill found his purpose.

One of the requirements to attend Lighthouse was to be enrolled in school. Through the help of Lighthouse and his vice-principal, Barry Stark, Bill re-enrolled and found his way to a 4.0 GPA.

Lighthouse was a turning point for Bill. The relationships that he formed in his youth impacted him in profound ways. So much so, that Bill has now dedicated his life to helping others who need support and guidance.

For over 14 years, Bill has been the Executive Director and he is incredibly fortunate to be part of the outstanding program that is Lincoln Lighthouse. He has two masters degrees and is incredibly passionate about restorative justice.

Hundreds of lives have been impacted because of Bill’s commitment to loving and serving others well. We are grateful for him and his work with Lighthouse.
